Take Action Now Against the Proliferation of Single-Use Plastics
One of the most progressive plastics bills in the nation is up for vote in Colorado — support its passage before February 24th!
Since the 1950s, plastic production worldwide has exploded from about 2 million tons annually to a whopping 440 million tons in 2015 – and is expected to nearly quadruple in the next 30 years! Nearly one-third of all plastics, which are produced from fossil fuels, end up polluting the environment, breaking down into microplastics that have been found in water sources, soils, and wildlife. Research from the US Geological Survey shows that plastic particles were present in more than 90% of rainwater samples taken from across Colorado, including in remote areas of Rocky Mountain National Park. Single-use, disposable plastics are used for mere minutes, yet often end up polluting the environment for centuries.
The global scale of plastic pollution may feel overwhelming, but there’s a lot YOU can do today!
Tell your house representative to curb the proliferation of single-use plastics by voting YES for House Bill 20-1163: Management of Single-Use Plastics.
What the bill proposes: Colorado House Bill 20-1163: Management Of Single-use Products would prohibit retail stores and restaurants from providing single-use plastic carryout bags, stirrers, and straws starting July 1, 2021.
But you can support our efforts at large by making a donation.
We thank you for your support!
