In these final days of the Spring 2022 legislative session, I am writing to respectfully request that House Bill 22-1355: Colorado’s Producer Responsibility Policy for Recycling is prioritized on the Senate and House calendars, ensuring the bill will have the opportunity to be voted on before the legislative session ends. House Bill 22-1355 has gone through an extensive stakeholder process that has resulted in support for the bill from 65 local governments—both urban and rural—as well as a growing number of local businesses and many global producers, such as Nestle, Danone, Unilever, and Wal-Mart. What local governments, businesses, and individuals like me support is a more efficient recycling system that provides equitable recycling access across the state, a robust local supply of recyclable materials for businesses, and no additional costs to local governments or consumers. This monumental legislation has support from diverse sectors and communities across Colorado, and deserves to be voted upon by our elected leaders. Please ensure that House Bill 22-1355 has that opportunity before the session ends. Thank you.
